Inter Medico has many years of experience in microbiology and infectious disease testing, and we routinely work with world-class vendor partners to bring new technologies to Canadian microbiology labs.

We offer two microbiology lines from well-known life sciences company QIAGEN. The QIAstat-Dx is a syndromic PCR testing solution that can be implemented in any size of lab, offering comprehensive results in just over an hour with minimal pre-analytic work. QIAGEN’s QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus test is the market-leading Interferon Gamma Release Assay (IGRA) for diagnosis of latent Tuberculosis infection (LTBI). A 4-tube collection system combined with an automatable ELISA kit provides sensitive and specific results that can assist in diagnosis of LTBI even in challenging patient populations.

We also offer simple manual tests for common infectious diseases. Our Canadian brand leader MedicoDx™ Streptococcal test kit provides quick results for grouping of Lancefield beta-hemolytic Streptococci. Using modified acid extraction reagent and blue carboxylated particles, results are obtained at room temperature for groups A, B, C, F, G and D. Our partnership with BioKit (a division of the Werfen Group) is dedicated to the research, development, production, and distribution of rapid, easy-to-use clinical diagnostic testing kits based on latex, red cell agglutinations or membrane immunochromatography for Infectious Mononucleosis, Staph Aureus, and Rheumatic diseases.
